…..and you even give us a drink.”

Hello all, Praise God. We had a week that was more introspective and personal in the sandwich ministry this week. First I must share with you that the photo below was taken on Thursday of this week. Apparently on Sunday there was a fire and it looks like it pretty much gutted the place. The place was pretty much a wreck before the fire, “a drug house” I was told, but since very early on in doing the sandwiches God has had me be faithful and go by there every week and give sandwiches to whomever happens to be there at the time. We have seen many different people in various levels of soberness. I know God is going to use this fire as a blessing and I believe the sandwich ministry is and has been playing a part in His plan in this house.

This week, as God’s plan would have it, I was by myself and we did not have a study. I saw most of the faces that I normally see come and get sandwiches, but as John John put it, “everybody wants to eat today but I guess nobody wants to stay and say their prayers.” John John really has a gift for assessing situations. How often is that what our personal situation with God is? We want Him to take care of us but we don’t want to put in the time to be with Him and Thank Him. But God IS Good all the time. I stayed around and talked to John John, Glenda (a lady who comes as much as she can who really has the spirit of God and knows His Word) and a man who I used to see at the house that had the fire. It was a very nice time to just sit and really talk and get to know more about each other. The man didn’t say much but you could tell he just enjoyed being there. Glenda really opened my eyes to how much “reach” this sandwich ministry has. She told me that she loves the scripture cards that we put in the lunches and she takes them and mails them to a person that she writes to in prison. And they are quite an inspiration to that person in prison. She also told me that one of the extra lunches she takes she gives it each week to her aunt who is on dialysis and that she just needs that nurishment that it provides and that because of her blood sugar she keeps the brownie and crackers from the lunch so she has a little something to help regulate her blood sugar throughout the week.

I was pretty blown away by this little peek as to how God uses every little bit. Glenda has said it before but she said it again this week, “You are such a blessing, you come and give us food physically and spiritually. What more do we need? …..and you even give us a drink.” I told her it was all God and He just uses me as an instrument for Him to provide for them. It is amazing what God will do when you are obedient to what He tells you to do.

This neighborhood and this ministry need your continued prayer. I thank you and definitely feel the prayers. There are a lot of behind the scenes things going on now in the sandwich ministry. It seems God has made growth a priority. He really has me starting, once again, going off into uncharted territory for myself. So I ask that you also keep that in mind as you pray for this ministry. I will keep you updated as things happen. For His Glory, Mitch
