Ohh for a Thousand……Sandwiches to be eaten

Hello all and Praise God it has been a very eventful week. In a lot of ways this has been a very trying week, but in usual God style, in the end everything turns out better than you ever expected.  I want to let you in on a little behind the scenes that has been going on. It has been placed on my heart to grow this ministry, and the first step from where we are is to form a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. I want to share that this is very out of the box for me and this really isn’t something that I ever set out to do. God told me to make sandwiches and hand them out so I did. But God has made it very clear, at every turn, that going beyond just doing this here is what he wants me to do. So, before I go any further please be in prayer for me in doing this. Pray that God guide me and that I have ears to hear and eyes to see what He will have me do, and the obedience to follow Him. Pray that He give we the grace, wisdom, and that he connect me with the people that will help further this ministry and His kingdom.

It is funny but this week especially, just like very early on when we were starting to try to hand out sandwiches, we have been facing stiff spiritual warfare. And I believe it is all due to filing for this non-profit status. Crazy things were happening, like yesterday (Thursday) when I went to the bank to get a certified check to mail in with the application the bank had no power so they were unable to help me so I had to go to another branch, which in turn made me way behind schedule to get everything ready for sandwiches. With no time to spare, no real study prepared, and people that were supposed to go out with me that had to back out at the last minute, I met up with Tara (who as a great blessing, her small group makes the sandwiches for the 3rd Thurs. every month) I asked her and her daughter Hope if they wanted to come and help because if not I was pretty much by myself. And fortunately they agreed. God is Good All the Time.

We were behind in time, so we went straight to the study. We made the turn on the block and found a very large group gathered. We were welcomed like conquering heroes, which in a way we were because we had fought and got past all of Satan’s stumbling blocks that morning to get there. God is Good All the Time, He provided a way and we followed and were able to really bless by a very large group that was waiting for us to share God’s Word.  I shared with them the struggle that it was to get there and that I was blessed by seeing all them waiting for us. God made the largest group that we have had yet come out and listen to His word. It really was a light in the darkness. God really is growing this ministry on all fronts. John John came up to me afterwards and asked if he could make some signs up saying that we have a bible study and lunch at Noon on Thursdays and to put them up around the neighborhood. I said what a great idea. So we will see what God will do with a little advertising for next week.

I want to share a prayer request. Ralph came up to me afterward and asked that I help him get plugged into a church. Ralph was one of the people in the house down the block that burned down. He has just recently got out of prison and does not want to go back to his old lifestyle of drugs and drinking, but unfortunately he feels himself starting to slip, so he wants to get plugged in somewhere so that he stops his slide and gets to where he aspires to be. Pray for Ralph, that he finds support through his family and neighbors and that we can find a place where he can get plugged in and be a blessing to others.

A very cool thing came on Thursday as well, we handed out our 1,000 lunch. It is really hard for me to believe that this simple little ministry is passing a big milestone like that. I know I have covered a lot of ground this week in the blog. I just want to ask you to commit this ministry to prayer. God is in this and God is leading this. Pray for me, pray for those people that help in this and pray that God will use this ministry in a mighty way to grow His kingdom both here in St Augustine and beyond. For His Glory, Mitch
