Growth here, growth there, growth everywhere…Praise God
Hello all, and Praise God. I have no news to report regarding Sabrina, we just keep praying that no news is good news and that since she was in a bad domestic situation that she may have “disappeared” on her own. We have been praying with and for John John. Overall he is probably better than you would expect. I guess that is the Peace that surpasses understanding at work. So continue to keep both John John and Sabrina in your prayers.
Well God is really working on every front to grow this ministry. In the past few weeks since I asked you for prayer, God has honored that and really pushed forward on many things. First thing is that He has provided help in the form of Pat Higgins, a college student here, who earlier this summer while on a mission trip in India had it laid on his heart by the Lord that when he get back he was to hand out sandwiches to people. Pat had no knowledge of what we have been doing here. So when Pat got back and was telling a co-worker about what had happened to him while he was away. The response Pat got was “there is a guy doing that right here, you need to get hooked up with him.” So I gladly hooked Pat up, and he has really taken things and ran with it. Pat will be in charge of organizing who goes out to deliver the sandwiches, for not one but now two times a week. So because of Pat’s obedience, the Lord has seen to grow this ministry from just Thursdays to Wednesdays as well. This is truly a blessing. Because as weeks went on it got harder and harder to serve the people we used to serve by driving around and the people we serve by staying put and having a bible study. Now the plan is that Pat takes a group of students, and sandwiches, and drives around on Wednesday, to develop or redevelop those relationships we have by driving around meeting and praying with people. This also gives the opportunity to let these new people know about the bible study we will still be having each Thursday. This then allows me, and a group of students, to go and teach and serve sandwich lunches at the Thursday bible study. So please be in prayer for this 100% expansion of this ministry.
Pat’s help also allows and frees me up to be obedient to the Lord’s calling and work to expand this ministry beyond St. Augustine. God has really provided for this by making a lot of big things happen very quickly. First, the corporation papers were processed with the state as well as the IRS, that provided us to open a bank account under the new corporation name of: The Sandwich Mission, Inc. We are unveiling the logo and mission statement below. The vision is that we “sandwich plant” this ministry in cities and towns where God has raised up people and placed it on their heart to do this ministry in their town. God will use us here in St. Augustine as a model, as counsel, as encouragement, and as support (both financially and spiritually) to these new leaders that he is raising up. A lot of people have the heart for missions, but lets face it not everyone can participate, we have jobs, we have families, we don’t have the time, money or courage to drop it all and get on a plane. But the wonderfully simple thing about the sandwiches is that it provides a way to do missions right here at home, right in your own backyard. The mission field starts right at your door. This is a way to reach out and do missions without dropping it all. Everyone can participate, whether it is through making the sandwiches or hitting the street to deliver that sandwiches and The Word. I love how Glenda has said it a number of times, “you feed us both physically and spiritually, what more do we need?”
Below is the Logo and Mission statement. I want you to note the verses referenced. The top is the Great Commandment
37Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[ 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-40
The bottom verse is the The Great Commission
19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
The Sandwich Mission is right in between the two striving to fulfill both.

The Sandwich Mission - Mission Statement
Loving our neighbor by providing physical and spiritual nourishment to those that hunger, and to equip both the servants and the served to be made disciples of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
It is very interesting to me how God is moving so quickly in this ministry and I find myself trying to catch up to where God wants me to be. An example of this is that God has already provided a location for the first “sandwich plant” as well as raised up the leaders. I would like you to be in prayer this week for two ladies that, on Wednesday, are flying down here from Peoria, IL just so they can go on Thursday and see how this whole sandwich thing works. They want to come, take notes, shoot some video, interview people, take all their findings back, and with assistance from the newly formed Sandwich Mission, Inc. start handing out sandwiches in Peoria. Wow, I never dreamed or thought this would happen. But the important thing is that God did. I pray for their travel and I pray for God’s will to be done both here and in Peoria and wherever God is raising up sandwich leaders. If you are interested in participating in the sandwich mission in any form please contact me. There are immediate needs here in St. Augustine and in Peoria. But if you don’t live in either place but God has put it on your heart contact me as well and we can see together how God will may decide to move in your community.
I know sometimes the blog is like a track meet, so many events so fast. But I just ask that you take these items to prayer: John John, Sabrina, Wednesday sandwiches, Thursday sandwiches and Bible study, Safe travel for the Peoria pair, and God’s will in the growth of this ministry. If God is for us, who can be against us? Thank you for all your prayer, For His Glory, Mitch
