Praise
Hello all and praise God for a very busy and exciting week. First things first, in regards to Sabrina we still have no news, so be in prayer for this, thank you.
I really want to just praise God. God is good all the time. This week it has been very easy for me to see His goodness. Thanks in part to your prayers, this week the sandwich mission has taken leaps forward. Pat Higgins and the people he is bringing out have been amazing. He has just jumped in with both feet and his fire is contagious. He went out on Wednesday and had numerous people go with him. So many in fact, I don’t even know who all went. It was funny, God stopped me this week and made me remember that only a few short weeks ago I was out there by myself, now I can’t even keep track of who is going. This sandwich mission is important to Him and He is growing it faster than I can scramble to keep up. So Pat and his group drove around the neighborhood handing out sandwiches, praying with people, telling people about the Thursday study, and most importantly building relationships. I am so thrilled and thankful for Pat and I just want to praise God for calling Pat here and putting it on his heart to do this. So Thank and Praise God for bringing Pat here and blessing him the drive and fire that is in him to serve the Lord by reaching out to people through sandwiches.
Thursday was a big day. It started early when I took the Peoria Pair (Kara and Colleen) over to Tara’s house to assemble sandwiches. Tara and Leah are representatives from the small group that was making sandwiches this week. Praise God that He is calling people to serve in every capacity in this ministry. From the people that Pat is gathering to go handout sandwiches to small groups that are willing to take the time to make the lunches, it is amazing to me the way God is really gathering anyone who is willing, and finding a way that they can serve in this mission. Just like the body of Christ, every part is important, serves a purpose and the rest of the body would not function properly without it. So I guess what I am trying to say is bring the gifts God has blessed you with, He wants you to use them and has a place for you. The Peoria pair really were blessed to see every aspect of the sandwiches. They got to see the production and talk to Tara and Leah and find out “why do you feel led to serve this ministry?” They also got the chance to talk to Tara’s husband Don, who you might remember is our connection at Wendy’s. He had it laid on his heart to have his business participate and help out with the need of making sandwiches. He had to answer the tough question of “how much does helping out cost you?” To which the jist of his answer was that you might be able to add up the dollars and cents but there really is no reason to try because the benefits of helping and serving are priceless. I made a point that Don has never once asked or even hinted to have any recognition for doing this. But I want to stress again that if you are out and about and have a choice eat at Wendy’s because you will be participating in furthering this ministry.
So on to the rallying point before we deliver sandwiches. Each week and now Wednesday also we meet in the Florida East Coast Railway parking lot at 11:45am. A place we can park cars get organized and read scripture, pray and just get our focus before we go serve our Lord. God through Pat overwhelmed me, He sent, including me, 9 people to go hand out sandwiches and participate in Bible study. And while we were at the study we even picked up 1 more person, so we had 10 total. The reason I tell this, is because this week God was really involving all his children and bringing them together. There were black people, white people, Hispanic people, poor people, rich people, people from different churches and denominations. It was so beautiful, it was just God’s children gathering in Jesus name to be a light and refuge for anyone that has the yearning to hear the Word of God. Love and peace and community. Everyone, no matter their background, praising His name and speaking His Word. A tiny peek at heaven for an hour on Thursday. I know that everyone that was there was blessed for being there. I really feel God urging me to challenge you to be involved. If you live in St. Augustine email or call and find out how you can participate. If don’t live near here, or even if you do, I urge you to prayerfully consider giving financially. We are in need of money this growth has come very fast, and we are trying to keep up with the amount of lunches and bibles that we need to support this growth. The Sandwich Mission is now a non-profit corporation and is working on the 501 (c)(3) status. Donations contributed in 2006 will unfortunately not be considered tax deductible, but donations made starting Jan. 1, 2007 will be tax deductible.
I don’t make this petition lightly. I want you to put this on your heart and take it to prayer and ask God to guide you on how or if you should serve or donate to this ministry. Then I just ask that you be obedient to His will for you. One time donations are great and appreciated but, God has really worked on me and put it on my heart that consistency is what wins souls and softens hearts, so I ask that you, in prayer, consider committing to partnering with us monthly. Thank you and God Bless you. For His Glory, Mitch

It is our hope to expand this ministry in the Peoria, Illinois area. Thank you to everyone who has a hand in this ministry. Without you, God’s work could not get done.
