Celebrating with sandwiches

Praise God, He is Good All the Time. Another big week in Sandwichville. I want to thank you all for your prayers regarding this ministry it really does make a difference in what goes on here. I spoke to Pat and he was telling me of the happenings on Wednesday of this week. It was a good week for him and his crew. They handed out more clothes and sandwiches. They prayed and reached out to people that they had not met before. Unfortunately there was no guitar or singing this week, but every week can’t be sandwichpalooza. And really they were so busy with the clothes and praying it would have been tough to fit the singing in. Never the less. God’s hand is truly working through Pat and those guys. They just connect with, inspire and encourage everyone that they are around. I am so Thankful that God has called them to have a heart for this ministry. They are truly a blessing to everyone that they come across.

So once again it was my job to try and follow them up on Thursday. I want to thank the Celebration small group led by the Bailey’s here in St. Augustine. They made all the sandwiches for Thursday and were really excited about it and have committed to doing it for the last Thursday of each month. Praise God. I know that they are a blessing to this ministry and I just pray that this ministry is a blessing to them as well.

So Loaded up with our “Celebration sandwiches”, me along with Andy Butler and Christina, headed over to the study. We handed out sandwiches, and while doing so, Rene, a woman who has participated in the study before and someone I had not seen in quite some time, was there and made a comment that the scripture verse that she received in her bag had really spoken to her heart and that it was just what she needed. As we went on to have the study I noticed one young man slowly creeping over and listening to the study. He was very careful that his friends, who were down the block, not notice that where he was and what he was doing. He didn’t join us this day but I know that God is working in his heart and I pray for him to have courage to come and join us in weeks to come. And possibly this will create a domino effect on his friends, maybe they too have been wanting to participate but were afraid of what their “friends” might say. I ask that you pray for him that he may have boldness to come and listen to the Word and to come to know Christ.

At the end as we were wrapping up a man said he was very thankful for Pat and the clothes that he had been bringing. He also said he was in real need of some shoes. We asked what size and said we would be on the lookout and let Pat know also. I got to talking, and then as I was about to get into the car to leave I noticed Andy was only wearing socks, no shoes. I thought in my head “I will never understand surfers” and did not realize where his shoes had went, I thought he had just taken them off. Just then Christina says, “I can’t believe you just gave that man the shoes right off your feet.” Andy says “it’s no big deal, I have others shoes, he needed them.”  So I told Andy, “that may be but it is not everyday that you see someone just give someone else the shoes right off their feet.

So all in all this was a really amazing week. I ask that you just continue to pray for this ministry and if God puts it on your heart to support us financially, I ask you to do so. We are in need, and as God continues to grow it, the need will grow also. I know that God will provide, but I ask that you please not overlook yourself, if God is tugging at your heart to use you to help fill our need, please do so. Thank you, For His Glory, Mitch

October 6th, 2006 at 4:53 pm I love your ministry! I make little pocket Bible cards for putting inside the lunch sacks for the homeless.May I send ya’ll some of the cards(i can make 100’s) for your Sandwich Ministry? They are just made of index cards and I glue a pretty picture(of animals, se=cenery, etc,) on each one along with an inspiring Bible verse. The cards seem to brighten the folks day a bit. Anyway, I could just send you a sample of 2 or 3 cards and you could see if they are right for your needs. Of course, th Bible cards are free of charge! :-) God bless you!
