A solo trip, new address, and even a celebration planned
Hello all, I pray all is well with you. I know that I am behind a little this week. A lot of things going on in a lot of different directions, but the thought that is really keeping me together is that God is in and behind all of it so we just take things one at a time and trust in Him. That is a good thought to have at this time of year when our focus seems to drift to all the things that we have to do. We (or at least me) need to just stop and focus on the reason for the season and be thankful and celebrate our Saviors birth, the marking a huge milestone in His redemption plan for us.
So this past week Pat had a bit of a treat, with Flagler College being off for break Pat did not have his normal crew with him. Instead it was just Pat on the solo. I think it is really cool that Pat got to experience this. Besides Pat, I am the only person that has ever gone out and done the sandwiches by myself. It sounds a little intimidating to do but you really can feel God working through you when you are the only person there. It is much more personal and intimate and people really draw to you because you are just one guy and not a caravan of people. I love having lots of people come out to help but I think it is always special when, for whatever God’s reason, He calls you to go out by yourself. A nice change of pace to see God really work in an intimate setting. Thank you Pat for all that you do, It is good to note that Pat is also on break and could go home to his family like all the other students, but he has planned his break so that he is always here for Wednesdays. That is some dedication, and I thank Pat for that and I thank God for that. Please keep Pat in your prayers, God works through him so much that I know the enemy would love to pick him off and disturb what he is doing. So he needs your prayers to stay strong.
On Thursday we had an interesting situation. Here in St. Augustine on the 2nd Thursday of each month at noon there is a lunch meeting of the . Which is a Christian Businessmans gathering to pray and be encouraged. I have been meaning to go for months but it has been tough to work out because Thursday is our day. So we worked it out that Andy Hirko was available to lead the sandwiches and free me up to go to the lunch and get the word out about sandwiches and what God is doing. I felt a little guilty at leaving my post but, knew that things were in good hands. My guilt was relieved when while I was at the lunch, the Mayor of St. Augustine was speaking and said that They recalled back in February of this year praying that God would raise up people for change here in St. Augustine. Now if you look back, February is when God really laid it on my heart to go and hand out sandwiches to people, and March 2nd was the first day of handing out sandwiches. And how all this sandwich stuff has been raised up and grown from February to now. I was really quite taken aback and humbled by this, that God was using this sandwich thing as an answer to peoples prayers. Wow. So that was my Thursday, and of course Andy did a fantastic job spreading God’s love through sandwiches and bible study that day.
Two new items I want to inform everyone of. The first is that the Sandwich Mission address has changed. Just like a child this ministry seems to be growing up more and more everyday. Our new address is:
The Sandwich Mission, Inc.
P.O. Box 2193
St. Augustine, FL 32085
The other item is the Sandwich Christmas party that I talked about last time. It is going to be very similar to the thanksgiving celebration last month. It is going to take place where we have the bible study each week and it is going to be This Saturday December 23 at 12:00 is the target time to eat. So I invite anyone in or around St. Augustine that day to stop by and share in the celebration of our Savior’s birth. Contact Tara Guernon to find out what to bring. It should be an amazing time of fellowship and community. If you need directions please see last week’s post. If you can’t make it (like you live 1,000 miles away or something) please keep this event in your prayers. The last thing that Satan wants is for people to gather together and be encouraged by celebrating life and Christmas together. Thank you for taking the time to read and passing this on to your friends. And of course thank you for your prayers and support. We love you. for His glory, Mitch
